Customer Service Representative by day, online supermarket delivery driver by night, David
shares a glimpse of how he's been helping his elderly neighbour over the last 10
“At the beginning of lockdown, I realised that the man who lives across the road from me wasn’t
going to be able to get out to the shops. He has some health issues and doesn't have any family or
friends who visit, so I offered to pick up his shopping once a week.
“Every week he emails his shopping list across to me on a Monday night or, as he now calls it
‘shopping list night’, and I go and grab what he needs after work on a Tuesday. I pretend to be an
online supermarket delivery driver when I drop it off - I even wear a cap for a bit of fun - and
leave it outside his front door.
“We’ve been doing this for 10 weeks now. He’s so grateful and has said it’s made a big difference to
his mental wellbeing. For me it’s been a pleasure to help him and has given me huge amounts of
self-satisfaction knowing I made a difference to someone’s day and life during this hard time.”
A huge well done to David for bringing positivity through his inspirational efforts.
