The Team

The Databases & BI Team is responsible for the development and support of the TTL front-end and back-office databases which support the MI, CRM and Billing functions. The database architectures employed reflect the Online Transaction Processing and Data Warehousing/ Online Analytic Processing uses of TTLs systems.

 

Purpose of the Role                          

Working as part of a team and possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, the successful candidate will be experienced in the full software development lifecycle, ideally in an agile environment, including requirements analysis through to design, in order to build processes to meet business requirements. Confident and articulate, the successful candidate will be required to liaise with clients to ensure requirements are fully realised and met.

 

Core responsibilities will be to develop, enhance and support the business functionality within the Oracle 9i databases and play a central role in the project to migrate databases to Oracle 11g. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

·         Developing databases and enhancing database functionality through the Oracle Development suite on Oracle database versions 9i and 11g, ideally on Unix platforms

·         Designing databases using Schema / schema objects design and implementation

·         Supporting production Oracle databases and user applications

·         Providing updated data for reporting and analyses purposes by completing data extraction / transformation / loads.

·         Optimising code and tuning performance of applications and databases.

·         PL/SQL Programming on Oracle 9i and 11g databases

 

Knowledge & Experience

 

·         Possesses hands on database development skills

·         Experience in supporting 24x7 business critical DB applications

·         Takes a “consultative” approach, considering solutions to problems within the wider context of how integrated applications may be affected

·         Strong relationship building skills

·         Flexible and versatile in managing development and support tasks

·         Some experience of DBA role and skills

·         Knowledge of Agile development methodologies desirable

·         Experience working with third party service providers desirable

 

Technical Skills

 

Essential

·         Experience of performing Data extraction / transformation / loads

·         Experienced in PL / SQL Programming

·         Has worked with Oracle 9i and 11g on a UNIX platform

·         Experienced in Code optimisation / performance tuning / issue resolution

·         Oracle DBA knowledge

 

Desirable

·         Experience with Data Warehouse optimisation and tools e.g. Oracle Warehouse Builder

·         SUN Solaris

·         Has knowledge of Business Objects tuning administration, preferably on version XI

·         SQL Server experience and Storage Array (SAN) technologies

 

Behavioural Skills
