The Team
The Operations Finance Team in Edinburgh manages financial control processes across all of thetrainline's systems and procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting. The Team is also responsible for detecting and solving system and process issues and interpreting financial data to feed into our accounting and reporting systems.
The Role
To manage the financial control processes for thetrainline’s systems and business processes, and the creation and on-going delivery of quality business object reports for the Accounting and Settlements team
Key Accountabilities
· Managing the Finance Systems QA team
· Daily monitoring ( 7 days per week or as required ) to support existing applications and processes, and systems changes – this includes running a dynamic suite of processes designed to capture system issues, to ensure that eg all tickets sales are paid for by customer , customers are charged correctly, thetrainline passes accurate ticket sales information to RSP on time.
· Issues identified are communicated timely and professionally, and managed to resolution
· Continual review of existing monitoring tools to ensure these are: fit for purpose, updated for systems changes, process efficiently, and are not redundant.
· Develop and incorporate into Daily Monitoring the scripts for new projects working with Projects Team
· Keep up to date with company processes, especially around escalating issues for resolution
· Interaction with Rail Industry on Operational issues from a Finance perspective
· Be recognised as a Subject Matter Expert in the technical aspects of rail industry financial processes eg NLC structures
· Provide and /or validate any data deliverable by Finance to ATOC or RSP under thetrainline’s various Licence arrangements , for example validation of period corporate reports, information for SMEs and Corporate registers
· Delivery of quality Business Objects reports to Accounting team each period
· Contribute to continual improvement of Team’s processes and information flows from Systems and Operations to Finance
· Support Finance team for day to day applications queries and be a recognised point of contact for queries and requests for information
The Candidate
· Experienced and commercially aware Senior Analyst
· Understands and can design financial control processes
· Ability to identify systems failures ,interpret and communicate impacts and risk,
· Ability to explain complex bespoke systems in simple non-technical terms
· Understands process changes and their impact upon financial activities
· Experience in working with cross functional teams
· SQL / My SQL,data interrogation tools eg Bus Objects, Cognos
· Advanced user of Microsoft Office Excel ,Access, Project, Powerpoint, Visio
· Accountancy or business management qualification desirable
· Previous working experience with similar educational requirements which can be demonstrated will be acceptable where a formal qualification is not held
